On 14 October 2018, it was announced that Amy Winehouse's family had respectively signed a multi-million pound deal with Owen's film company, Monumental Pictures, to make a biopic about her life, which Owen will direct. It is said that Winehouse’s story will be adapted for the screen by Geoff Deane, who has written comedy movies Kinky Boots (2005) and It’s a Boy Girl Thing (2006). The project was scheduled to start filming in 2019.
