Bob Babbitt is an American bassist, best known for his work in the Motown Records studio band, the Funk Brothers. He was born on November 26, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Babbitt began his career as a session musician in the late 1950s, playing on records by artists such as The Drifters, The Coasters, and The Four Seasons. He joined the Funk Brothers in 1965, and played on many of the most famous Motown recordings of the 1960s and 1970s, including hits by The Supremes, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye. Babbitt has also worked with a variety of other artists, including Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Barbra Streisand. He has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. As of 2021, Bob Babbitt's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
