Christopher Thorn is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the alternative rock band Blind Melon. He was born on December 16, 1968 in Dover, Pennsylvania. Thorn began playing guitar at the age of 12 and was influenced by the music of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd. He attended the University of Southern California and studied music theory and composition. In 1990, Thorn formed Blind Melon with vocalist Shannon Hoon, bassist Brad Smith, and drummer Glen Graham. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1992, which included the hit single "No Rain". The band released two more albums before disbanding in 1999. In 2000, Thorn formed the band Unified Theory with vocalist Chris Shinn, bassist Dave Krusen, and drummer Tim Dow. The band released two albums before disbanding in 2004. Thorn has also worked as a producer and songwriter for other artists, including the Goo Goo Dolls, Everclear, and The Wallflowers.
