Dedrick Roper is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on July 31, 1981 in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Detroit Pershing High School, where he was a three-time All-State selection and was named the Detroit Free Press Player of the Year in 1999. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2003. Roper was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He has since played for the Pistons, the Los Angeles Clippers, the New Orleans Hornets, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the San Antonio Spurs. He has also played professionally in Italy, Spain, and Turkey. Roper is married to his wife, Tia, and they have two children. He is an active member of his community, and he is involved in several charities, including the Detroit Pistons Foundation and the Detroit Police Athletic League. He is also a member of the Detroit Pistons Alumni Association.

He began his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and played for the St. Louis Rams for all of one week before the Eagles signed him in 2005 season.
