He has been in the broadcasting business since 1979, when he began his career as a radio announcer for the Minnesota Twins. Bremer was born on March 1, 1956 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism. Bremer has been the play-by-play announcer for the Minnesota Twins since 1983. He has also worked as a play-by-play announcer for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Wild, and the Minnesota Vikings. In addition to his broadcasting career, Bremer is also an author. Bremer and his wife Heidi live in St. Michael, Minnesota. They have a son and daughter, Erik and Hannah. Bremer's father was a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod pastor and Bremer has done public speaking at churches across the Midwest talking about his faith. He is a devout Lutheran.
On September 29, 2013, Bremer was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame recognizing, among other things, his 30 seasons as the "Television Voice of the Minnesota Twins".
