Dwaine Board is a former American football defensive end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. He was born on November 29, 1956 in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Board attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a three-year starter at defensive end. He was selected in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the 49ers from 1979 to 1983, and then for the Seattle Seahawks from 1984 to 1986. Board was a two-time Pro Bowl selection, in 1981 and 1982. He was also named to the All-Pro team in 1981. He finished his career with 39 sacks and 11 fumble recoveries. Board is currently the defensive line coach for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a member of the Rocky Mount Sports Hall of Fame. Board played college football at North Carolina A&T State University and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they released him in the preseason and signed with the 49ers. In his 10 NFL seasons, Board recorded 45 sacks and 9 fumble recoveries. He was a member of the San Francisco 49ers' Super Bowl winning teams; Super Bowl XVI, Super Bowl XIX and Super Bowl XXIII as a player, and Super Bowl XXIX as a coach.
