Haskel Stanback is an American former professional football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints. He was born on March 19, 1952 in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Stanback attended A.L. Brown High School in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where he was an All-State selection in football and basketball. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a three-year starter at running back. In 1974, Stanback was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played for the Cowboys for four seasons, primarily as a kick returner. He was released by the Cowboys in 1978 and signed with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Saints for two seasons before retiring in 1980. In his six-year NFL career, Stanback rushed for 1,068 yards and four touchdowns, and caught 33 passes for 441 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 79 kickoffs for 1,845 yards and one touchdown. He was selected in the fifth round of the 1974 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals after attending the University of Tennessee. After his football career, he began work with Norfolk Southern Corporation, and is Superintendent of its Virginia Division in Roanoke.
