He held various positions in the company, including vice president of 3M Europe, president of 3M Europe, and president of 3M International. In 2011, he was appointed as the company's chief operating officer and in 2012, he was appointed as the company's CEO. During his tenure as CEO, Thulin focused on innovation and growth, leading 3M to record sales and profits. He also led the company's efforts to reduce its environmental footprint and increase its sustainability efforts. In 2018, Thulin retired from 3M and was appointed to the board of directors of Chevron Corporation. He currently serves as a member of the board's audit committee. Thulin has received numerous awards and honors for his leadership and contributions to the business world. In 2017, he was named one of the world's best CEOs by Barron's magazine.
