James Lupton, Baron Lupton is a British businessman and Conservative politician. He was born on 15 June 1955 in London, England. He is the son of Sir William Lupton, a former Lord Mayor of London. He was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he read economics. He then worked in the City of London, becoming a partner in the merchant bank Kleinwort Benson. He was made a life peer in 1997, taking the title Baron Lupton, of Eversholt in the County of Bedfordshire. He was a member of the House of Lords until his retirement in 2019. He has served as a director of several companies, including the Bank of England, the London Stock Exchange, and the Royal Bank of Scotland. He is also a trustee of the National Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts. He is married to Lady Lupton, and they have two children.
