Keyon Harrold is an American jazz trumpeter, vocalist, songwriter and producer. He was born on November 18, 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri. He began playing trumpet at the age of nine and was soon performing with local jazz bands. He attended the University of North Texas, where he studied jazz performance. Harrold has released several albums as a leader, including The Mugician (2016), The Mugician Live (2017), and The Mugician Remixed (2018). He has also collaborated with a variety of artists, including Common, Robert Glasper, and Erykah Badu. Harrold has won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for his work on the soundtrack for the film Miles Ahead (2016). During this period, Harrold became a notable crossover performer, becoming a staple of New York jazz clubs as well as providing instrumentation for recordings by JAY-Z, Beyoncé, 50 Cent, Anthony Hamilton, Gregory Porter, Mac Miller, Mary J. Blige and Maxwell. Harrold has also toured with Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, Rihanna, Eminem, Gregory Porter, D’Angelo, Maxwell and Mary J. Blige.
