In December 2014 Opie was crowned Miss South Florida USA 2016. She represented South Florida at the Miss Florida USA pageant in July 2015.
Opie was Miss Virgin Islands 2013 in the Miss United States Organization. She was fourth runner-up at Miss United States 2012. She competed in Miss United States again the next year and placed in the Top 15.
In September 2013, Opie created a women's wellness and lifestyle blog, Lady Code. She was a victim of bullying during her time at Williamsburg Christian Academy and Jamestown High School (Virginia), and uses Lady Code to promote women's empowerment and anti-bullying.
