He is best known for his successful career as a water polo player, having won several medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships. Galli began his career in the late 1970s, playing for the Italian national team. He was part of the team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He also won a bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Galli also won several medals at the World Championships, including a gold medal in 1986 and a silver medal in 1991. He retired from the sport in 1994. Galli is married and has two children. He currently works as a coach and is the president of the Italian Water Polo Federation.
