Maria Stepanova is a Russian professional basketball player who currently plays for the UMMC Ekaterinburg of the Russian Women's Basketball Premier League. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, a three-time EuroLeague Women champion, and a four-time Russian Women's Basketball Premier League champion. Stepanova was born on 23 February 1979 in Mikhaylovsk, Russia. She began playing basketball at the age of 12 and joined the Russian national team in 1997. She has since become one of the most decorated players in the history of Russian women's basketball. Stepanova has won two Olympic gold medals, in 2008 and 2012, and a bronze medal in 2016. She has also won three EuroLeague Women championships, in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and four Russian Women's Basketball Premier League championships, in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Stepanova is 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) tall and weighs around 200 pounds (90 kg). She is currently married to Russian basketball player Andrei Kirilenko.
