Mariqueen Maandig is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the band How to Destroy Angels, which she formed with her husband, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross. She is also a former member of the band West Indian Girl. Maandig was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States when she was a child. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied music and theater. Maandig began her music career in 2004, when she joined the band West Indian Girl. The band released two albums, West Indian Girl (2004) and 4th & Wall (2008). In 2009, Maandig formed How to Destroy Angels with her husband, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross. The band released their debut EP, An Omen, in 2012, followed by their debut full-length album, Welcome Oblivion, in 2013. In 2010, Maandig and her husband Trent Reznor formed the group How to Destroy Angels, along with long-time Reznor collaborator Atticus Ross. They have released two EPs named How to Destroy Angels and An Omen, and a studio album, Welcome Oblivion.
Maandig married Trent Reznor in October 2009. They have five children: sons Lazarus Echo (born October 10, 2010), Balthazar Venn (born December 31, 2011), a third child whose name is unknown (born November 1, 2015), daughter Nova Lux Reznor (born December 3, 2016) and a fifth child whose name is unknown (born January 2020).
Maandig has worked with LA-based songwriter BAO and appeared as a guest vocalist on two of his band Ming & Ping's songs, "Mixed Melodies" from their eponymous 2009 album and "Chinatown" from 2012's The Darkness of Night. She also provided backing vocals on the track "She's Gone Away" on Nine Inch Nails' 2016 EP Not the Actual Events, as well as on "Shit Mirror" off the band's 2018 album Bad Witch.
