Molla Mallory was a Norwegian-born American tennis player who won eight singles titles at the U.S. National Championships (now known as the US Open). She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1971. Molla Mallory was born on March 6, 1884 in Oslo, Norway. She moved to the United States with her family when she was a young girl. She began playing tennis at the age of 14 and quickly rose to prominence in the sport. She won her first U.S. National Championship in 1915 and went on to win seven more titles between 1915 and 1926. She was the first woman to win the U.S. National Championships four times in a row (1915-1918). Molla Mallory was also a successful coach, training several champions including Helen Wills Moody and Alice Marble. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1971. Molla Mallory died on June 12, 1959 in New York City. She was 75 years old.
