Moustapha Akkad was a Syrian-American film producer and director best known for producing the "Halloween" film series. He was born in Aleppo, Syria, on July 1, 1930, to a wealthy family. He studied at the American University of Beirut and later moved to the United States to pursue a career in film. Akkad produced several films, including the Academy Award-nominated Lion of the Desert (1981), The Message (1976), and Mohammad, Messenger of God (1976). He also directed two films, Lion of the Desert and The Message. Akkad was killed in a terrorist bombing in Amman, Jordan, on November 9, 2005. He was 75 years old.
