He is best known for his work on film noir classics such as Out of the Past (1947) and The Spiral Staircase (1945). He was also the cinematographer on the cult classic Cat People (1942). Musuraca was born in Riace, Calabria, Italy in 1892. He began his career in Italy, working as a camera assistant on several films. In 1920, he moved to the United States and began working as a cinematographer in Hollywood. Throughout his career, Musuraca worked on a variety of films, including westerns, comedies, and horror films. He was known for his use of low-key lighting and deep focus shots, which helped to create a moody atmosphere in his films. Musuraca died in 1975 in Los Angeles, California. He was 82 years old.
