Raymond Bourque is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played for the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest defensemen of all time. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004. Bourque was born in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, and began playing hockey at the age of seven. He was drafted by the Bruins in 1979 and played for them until 2000, when he was traded to the Avalanche. He won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2001, his only championship. Bourque retired in 2001 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004. He is the all-time leader in goals, assists, and points by a defenseman in NHL history. He was also the recipient of the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman five times. Bourque is currently the president of the Boston Bruins Alumni Association and is involved in various charitable causes. He is also a partner in a restaurant in Boston.
