Rick Woolstenhulme Jr. is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the alternative rock band The Maine. He is also the founder of 8123 Records, a record label that he started in 2011. Woolstenhulme was born in Gilbert, Arizona, and grew up in Tempe, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University, where he studied music and business. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and started writing songs at the age of 15. In 2007, Woolstenhulme formed The Maine with drummer Pat Kirch, bassist Garrett Nickelsen, and keyboardist Kennedy Brock. The band released their debut album, Can't Stop Won't Stop, in 2008. The album was a success, reaching number one on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The band has since released six more albums, all of which have charted on the Billboard 200. In 2011, Woolstenhulme founded 8123 Records, a record label that focuses on releasing music from The Maine and other artists. In addition to his work with Lifehouse, he has performed on numerous recordings, including those of Shawn Colvin, Rihanna, Leigh Nash, Rocco DeLuca, Britney Spears, Dave Matthews, and Palo Alto.
