Robin de Jesus is an American actor and singer best known for his Tony Award-nominated performance as Sonny in the Broadway musical In the Heights. He has also appeared in the Broadway productions of La Cage aux Folles, Rent, and Wicked. De Jesus was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, and raised in nearby Bridgeport. He attended Central High School in Bridgeport, where he was a member of the school's drama club. He later attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. De Jesus made his Broadway debut in the 2003 revival of La Cage aux Folles. He then appeared in the original Broadway production of Rent, and in the 2005 revival of The Boys from Syracuse. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance as Sonny in the 2008 Broadway production of In the Heights. He also appeared in the Broadway production of Wicked in 2009. In addition to his stage work, De Jesus has appeared in the films Camp, Take the Lead, and The Producers. He has also appeared in television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ugly Betty, and Smash.
