(October 6, 1962) Shot to death her husband of ten months--and estranged for two months--'Tom Gilson (I)' after he broke into the house where she was staying. A coroner's jury later ruled the shooting as justifiable homicide. The scandal, however, abruptly ended her acting career.
Gave birth to her first child at age 23, son Thomas S. Gilson, Jr., on December 8, 1961. Child's father was her late estranged husband, Tom Gilson.
Put under contract to Warner Brothers after her Playboy pictorial appearance, starlet Saundra was brought along slowly and appeared in various Warner movie and TV productions. Oddly, in her first extended speaking part, Maverick: Holiday at Hollow Rock (1958), Warners showed a lack of confidence in her voice and used fellow contract player Adele Mara to dub her dialogue. Later screen appearances showed that Saundra actually had a pleasant voice.
