She is best known for her television and radio show, Sunday Night Sex Show, which aired on the Canadian television network W Network and the American cable network Oxygen. She has also written several books on sex and relationships, and has been a guest on numerous television and radio shows. Johanson was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on March 16, 1930. She attended the University of Toronto, where she earned a degree in nursing. She then worked as a nurse for several years before becoming a sex educator. Johanson began her career as a sex educator in the 1970s, when she began giving lectures on sex and relationships at the University of Toronto. She then began hosting a radio show on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in the 1980s, which eventually led to her hosting the Sunday Night Sex Show on W Network and Oxygen. Johanson has written several books on sex and relationships, including The Truth About Sex, The Joy of Sex, and Sex and Aging. She has also been a guest on numerous television and radio shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Johanson has been honored with numerous awards, including the Order of Canada, the Order of Ontario, and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. She was also inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame in 2006.
