He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1932. McCrary began his career in radio in the 1930s, working as a disc jockey and announcer for various stations in Texas. He moved to New York City in the 1940s and began working for NBC Radio. He was the host of the popular radio show "Tex and Jinx" with his wife, Jinx Falkenburg. The show was broadcast from 1945 to 1955. McCrary also appeared in several films, including "The Big Clock" (1948), "The Mating Season" (1951), and "The Seven Year Itch" (1955). He also appeared in television shows such as "The Tex and Jinx Show" (1955-1956) and "The Tex McCrary Show" (1956-1957). In addition to his acting and radio career, McCrary was also a successful public relations executive. He founded the public relations firm Tex McCrary Inc. in 1954 and served as its president until his death in 2003. McCrary was married to Jinx Falkenburg from 1945 until her death in 2003. He died on July 17, 2003 in New York City. He was 92 years old.
