Tommy Chong is an actor, comedian, writer, director, activist, and musician. He is best known for his marijuana-themed Cheech & Chong comedy albums and movies with Cheech Marin, as well as playing the character Leo on Fox's That '70s Show. Chong was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Lorna Jean (née Gilchrist) and Stanley Chong, who was a Chinese immigrant. He has three siblings. He attended Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts. Chong began his career as a stand-up comedian in Vancouver, British Columbia, during the 1960s. He became part of the counterculture movement with his comedy partner Cheech Marin. The duo released a series of successful comedy albums and starred in a number of films, most notably Up in Smoke (1978). Chong has also had a successful solo career, releasing several comedy albums and appearing in films such as Far Out Man (1990) and The Corsican Brothers (1984). He has also appeared in a number of television shows, including That '70s Show, in which he played the character Leo. Chong is an outspoken advocate for the legalization of marijuana and has been arrested several times for possession of the drug. He is also an active member of the cannabis industry, having founded the marijuana-themed website Chong's Choice. As of 2021, Tommy Chong's net worth is estimated to be roughly $8 million.
