Vagas Ferguson is an American former professional football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams. He was born on March 6, 1957 in Richmond, Indiana. He attended Richmond High School and then went on to play college football at the University of Miami. Ferguson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played for the 49ers from 1979 to 1983 and then for the Los Angeles Rams from 1984 to 1986. During his NFL career, he was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named to the All-Pro team in 1983. Ferguson retired from the NFL in 1986 and went on to become a successful businessman. He is the founder and CEO of the Ferguson Group, a real estate development and investment firm. He is also the founder and CEO of the Ferguson Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides educational and recreational opportunities for underprivileged youth. As of 2021, Vagas Ferguson's net worth is estimated to be roughly $20 million.

In 1979, his senior season at Notre Dame, Ferguson was voted to the All-America Team of the American Football Coaches Association. That year, he was the fifth ranked player in the nation in yards per rush and finished fifth in voting for the Heisman Trophy. He ranks third all-time for total yards gained (3,472) among Notre Dame running backs, having averaged 5.2 yards per carry.
Ferguson was named the outstanding offensive player of the 1978 Cotton Bowl Classic, which Notre Dame won 38-10 over Texas.
